Principal

Michael Wheeler, currently the HSO Principal Viola, began his professional career in the New World Symphony under the leadership of Michael Tilson Thomas. Prior to joining the HSO he was a member of the San Antonio Symphony. He performs regularly with ensembles and orchestras throughout Connecticut.

He studied at Indiana University, Juilliard, and the New England Conservatory.

He enjoys teaching at the Hartt School Community Division and at the Miss Porters School.
