Yukiko Kuhara began violin studies at the age of 10 in Nagasaki, Japan. When she was 17, she won the Art-Chef’s first competition, and debuted as a soloist with the Boston Chamber Orchestra during its Japan tour. She was also a National Finalist of the 2014 Japan Classical Music Competition. Yukiko has participated in various music festivals, including Musique de Flain in France, Taconic music festival, Sarasota Music festival, Round Top music Festival, Meadowmount School of Music, Okhotsk Monbetsu Music Seminar, Nara international Music Seminar and Akiyoshidai Music Academy. In 2018, she performed the Bruch violin concerto with the Queensboro symphony orchestra in New York, and in 2019, Yukiko appeared on the WQXR weekly radio show Young Artists Showcase. Her teachers include Takako Yamazaki, Seiji Kageyama, Katsuya Matsubara, Asuka Sezaki, Sally Thomas, Wen Qian, Jennifer Koh, Nancy Wu and Guillaume Sutre. In 2020 Yukiko received her bachelor’s degree from Mannes the New School for Music, where she was a concertmaster during the orchestra’s 2019–20 season. As a former violinist of Trio Solace, Yukiko was awarded a Chamber Music America Ensemble Forward grant for its 2020–21 season. In 2023, Yukiko joined the Hartford Symphony Orchestra
