Robert McEwan Appointed Assistant Professor in Residence of Percussion at UConn
We are thrilled to announce that Hartford Symphony Orchestra Principal Percussionist Robert McEwan has been appointed to the newly endowed position of Assistant Professor in Residence of Percussion at the University of Connecticut. Robert is enthusiastic about the opportunity to make UConn the leading destination for young percussionists in Connecticut and beyond.
Robert McEwan’s studied at the Eastman School of Music, the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and the Juilliard School. He further honed his skills at prestigious institutions such as the Tanglewood Music Center and the National Repertory Orchestra and was a two-time contemporary music fellow at the Aspen Music Festival.
Since 1995, Robert has served as the Principal Percussionist of the Rhode Island Philharmonic His impressive career also includes his role as Principal Percussionist with the United States Coast Guard Band since 2001, and with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra since 2003.
With his appointment at UConn, Robert McEwan brings a wealth of experience and a passion for percussion education. We are confident that his leadership will inspire and cultivate the next generation of outstanding percussionists.
