We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved pre-show trumpeter and cherished Bushnell fixture, Willie Nelson, who passed away on Monday, July 22. For 18 years, Willie greeted Bushnell patrons with his trumpet playing on Capitol Avenue, becoming a beloved presence and a symbol of warmth for our patrons.

Willie was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served with distinction and performed as a musician in the Air Force Band. His commitment to music and his country were integral parts of his life and his repertoire.

To honor Willie’s memory, his family has established a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral expenses. Ways of honoring Willies presence at the Bushnell are being discussed and we will share details as they become available.

Willie’s life was a testament to his dedication to music and service. We are grateful for the time and talent he shared with us and will remember him with great fondness.
