About

Have you ever looked at a picture or a painting and wondered what it might sound like? Music Director finalist Alastair Willis and the HSO explore the creative spark that connects painters, composers, and performers across generations. From the bold textures of Anna Clyne’s Abstractions (Clyne is today’s most performed living woman composer) to the wit and color of Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G with pianist Evren Ozel, and the unforgettable spectacle of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, this concert invites you to see music differently—and perhaps hear art in a whole new way. This is your invitation to experience inspired greatness from a fresh perspective.

I can’t wait to hear how the Hartford Symphony Orchestra will approach this masterwork (Pictures at an Exhibition) and how our musical canvas evolves from rehearsals to concerts.” Alastair Willis
