About

Where do great ideas come from? Sometimes they’re entirely new. Sometimes they’re inspired by the past. Music Director finalist John Morris Russell leads a program that sparks a conversation between tradition and innovation. Immerse yourself in Eric Whitacre’s luminous Prelude in C, inspired by Johan Sebastian Bach and written for JMR and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, experience pianist Terrence Wilson in Rachmaninoff’s breathtaking Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini—a brilliant reimagining of a melody composed by the greatest violin virtuoso of all time—and journey through Berlioz’s wildly imaginative Symphonie Fantastique, a work as revolutionary today as when it premiered nearly two centuries ago.

This concert is as much about the brilliant craft displayed in each of these masterworks, as it is the dazzling virtuosity of every member of the orchestra.”  John Morris Russell
