Folk Songs for Orchestra, according to the composer, drew inspiration “from the Chinese ancient and folk music, Western avant-garde, rock, and jazz.” Spivakovsky’s Concerto for Harmonica and Orchestra presents the harmonica in a way you have never experienced before. The “French Connection” rounds out the program with Debussy’s symphonic poem, Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, and Ravel’s Mother Goose.
