This summertime event is our gift to the community, offering an afternoon of beautiful music in the heart of Hartford.
One of the highlights of the concert will be the performance of Vittorio Monti’s “Czardas” by Melissa White, who will undoubtedly captivate audiences with her rendition of this phenomenal crowd pleaser. The “czardas” is a Hungarian dance what starts slow but finishes in a rapid whirl. Italian composer Vittorio Monti (1868-1922) crafted the piece–his most famous composition—in 1904, drawing inspiration from the spirit of Italian unification and echoing the distinctive styles of composers like Ponchielli and Mascagni. The infectious energy of “Czardas” continues to captivate audiences, even finding new life in contemporary works, including sampling by Lady Gaga.
Invite your family and friends to bring a picnic blanket to Bushnell Park for an afternoon of music under the open sky!
