Kyle Davis

 

Kyle Davis, a Texas native, began his musical journey on the viola at a young age. He pursued a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Texas, where he studied with Dr. Susan Dubois and Dr. Daphne Gerling, earning several accolades including the College of Music Deans Camerata Scholarship and being a member of the UNT Honors College. He furthered his studies with a Master of Music degree from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music under Atar Arad, where he also had the opportunity to study intensively with members of the Pacifica Quartet, performing on the annual Dubinsky Chamber Recital.

Kyle has accumulated extensive orchestral experience, serving as principal viola in The Orchestra Now at Bard College from 2022 to the present. He has played with numerous orchestras across the country, including the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, and Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. His festival performances include the National Repertory Orchestra, Chautauqua Institution Music Festival, and Round Top Festival Institute.

During his tenure as a graduate fellow with The Orchestra Now, Kyle had the privilege of performing at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Jazz at Lincoln Center, under renowned conductors like JoAnn Falletta, Tan Dun, and Leon Botstein.

His chamber music experience is equally rich, having received regular coachings from the Pacifica Quartet during his time at Indiana University, along with notable master classes from artists such as Lynne Ramsey and Karen Ritscher. He has performed in chamber ensembles at the National Repertory Orchestra and Round Top Festival, under the guidance of esteemed coaches including James VanDemark and Stephen Balderston.

Kyle’s dedication to his craft is evident in his ongoing commitment to both performance and education, working with esteemed teachers and performers including Atar Arad, Dr. Susan Dubois, and Brett Deubner.
