California native and 2021 National Flute Association Young Artist Competition Grand Prize winner, Dominique Kim joined the Hartford Symphony Orchestra as Principal Flute in 2022. She has also performed with the Houston Symphony and New World Symphony, and has attended the Spoleto Festival, Music Academy of the West, and Tanglewood Music Center. Dominique has had the privilege of playing under the batons of Andris Nelsons, Gustavo Dudamel, JoAnn Falletta, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, and Larry Rachleff.  

As both a pianist and flutist, Dominique is a versatile musician who has performed flute and piano concerti with various orchestras across the U.S., including her solo debut with the San Diego Symphony. An avid chamber musician and new music performer, Dominique also performs and commissions new works with her violinist/pianist sister Valerie in their ensemble, Dal Duo. 

Dominique holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History of Art & Architecture with a secondary in German Studies from Harvard University, as well as a Masters in Music from the New England Conservatory through the 5-year Harvard/NEC Dual Degree Program. After studying with Paula Robison at NEC, Dominique is currently pursuing further musical studies at the Rice University Shepherd School of Music under the tutelage of Leone Buyse.  Away from the flute, Dominique enjoys visiting museums, cooking with her family, and ice skating.
