The Hartford Symphony Orchestra concludes its 75th Anniversary Season with Mahler 5 May 31- June 2
Featuring Leonid Sigal, Margreet Francis and Wendy Warner
The 75th anniversary celebration of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra concludes with Mahler 5 Friday, May 31 through Sunday, June 2, in the Belding Theater at The Bushnell in Hartford. These concerts will be led by HSO Music Director Carolyn Kuan, and will feature HSO concertmaster Leonid Sigal, HSO pianist Margreet Francis, and cellist Wendy Warner. Visit hartfordsymphony.org for tickets and information.
This program will feature Beethoven’s Concerto for Violin, Violoncello & Piano in C Major, Op. 56, “Triple Concerto” and Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 in C-sharp minor. Join us for a pre-concert talk led by Carolyn Kuan one hour prior to curtain of each performance.
Mahler’s pivotal Symphony No. 5 moves from tragedy to celebration, and its fourth movement, a declaration of love for his wife Alma, is his most renowned composition. Beethoven’s rich “Triple Concerto” features a dynamic interplay between soloists and orchestra.
