The Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s (HSO) Music Builds Community (MBC) Campaign will be receiving a $1 million gift! This gift is a result of the HSO meeting a challenge by a group of anonymous donors to raise $750,000 in new MBC commitments between June 20 and December 31, 2018.
The goal of Music Builds Community is to raise $10,000,000 by 2022. With the successful completion of the Challenge, MBC has raised $7,414,049, representing 74% of the goal.
The challenge gift was made to honor and celebrate the HSO’s 75th Season, which started in October of 2018. Gifts from all sources, including individual, foundation, business and corporate, counted towards the $750,000 goal. The successful completion of this challenge would not have been possible without the diligent work of MBC Campaign Committee members including Committee Chair Rebecca Corbin Loree, HSO Board Chair Jeff Verney, Bob Bausmith, Karen Sprout, and David Roth.
This gift will aid in fulfilling the three main goals set forth by the campaign committee:
- $6.0 million to build the HSO’s endowment providing organizational support in perpetuity.
- $2.0 million to increase Education and Community Engagement programs to meet a growing need throughout our extended community.
- $2.0 million to create innovative programs introducing orchestral music to new audiences.
“We are thrilled to have met this challenge well in advance of the December 31 end date, and we are sincerely grateful to all the generous donors who helped us achieve this goal,” said MBC Campaign Chair Rebecca Corbin Loree, an HSO director and Founder and CEO of Corbin Advisors in Farmington. “The committee is energized and excited to continue the work of reaching our $10M objective, which will be invested to further the Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s impact on our community.”
