Hartford Symphony Orchestra kicks off HSO: INTERMIX series with DARK WOOD on November 16 at Hog River Brewing
The Hartford Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to announce its first program in the 2017-2018 HSO: Intermix Series, Dark Wood, on Thursday, November 16 at 7 pm at Hog River Brewing Co. in Hartford. For tickets and information, call 860-987-5900 or visit hartfordsymphony.org.
HSO: Intermix is intimate, inviting, and interactive! Get up close with HSO ensembles as they perform contemporary compositions and intriguing, rare, classical pieces. Enjoy cocktails, conversation, mingling, and more.
The November program, led by HSO Music Director, Carolyn Kuan, features an innovative mix of contemporary and classical: a movement from Beethoven’s elegant Quintet in E-Flat, Jennifer Higdon’s interactive Smash, her reflective Summer Shimmers, and her intense Dark Wood, Bach’s Prelude and Fugue, selections from Brahms’ luscious Horn Trio, and Schuttenhelm’s layered Whirl (Thomas Schuttenhelm is a Connecticut resident).
This concert also delves into the connection between music and beer: Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms were all notably beer drinkers! The price of one beer (21+) is included in the ticket price.
Upcoming HSO: Intermix concerts this season include Alleged Dances at Onyx Spirits Company in East Hartford on Thursday, February 22, 2018, and The Twittering Machine on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Real Art Ways in Hartford.
