Hartford Symphony Orchestra announces 2018-2019 POPS! Series

It’s our 75th season! Hartford Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Steve Collins and HSO Music Director Carolyn Kuan are thrilled to announce the programming for the HSO’s 2018-2019 POPS! Series, to be presented in Mortensen Hall at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford, CT.

“Join us for the celebration as we bring you captivating concerts featuring iconic film scores, dazzling dance, and the music of one of today’s hottest Broadway stars,” Collins said.

Ticket Information: Current POPS! subscribers will receive their renewal information in April. New subscriptions will be available in June. Single tickets will go on sale this summer. For information on subscriptions, please call 860-987-5900 or visit www.hartfordsymphony.org.

Star Wars: A New Hope In Concert

The Hartford Symphony Orchestra will present Star Wars: A New Hope In Concert featuring screenings of the complete film in HD with Oscar®-winning composer John Williams’ musical score performed live to the film. Since the release of the first Star Wars movie nearly 40 years ago, the Star Wars saga has had a seismic impact on both cinema and culture, inspiring audiences around the world with its mythic storytelling, captivating characters, groundbreaking special effects and iconic musical scores composed by Williams.

Leslie Odom Jr. in Concert

Leslie Odom, Jr. took the Broadway world by storm when he originated the role of Aaron Burr in the blockbuster musical Hamilton and won the 2016 Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. Since making his Broadway debut at the age of 17 in Rent, his impressive career has spanned television, film and theater, recently starring in the major motion picture Murder on the Orient Express. Be in the room where it happens, as Leslie performs holiday tunes, classics, and Broadway hits!

From the shimmy to the tango, from the waltz to the cha-cha, Let’s Dance! combines classic and popular dance styles including swing, jazz, 50s pop and more! This fabulous program is complemented by orchestral showpieces and competitive professional dancers, plus two vocalists who will bring music from Dirty Dancing to Peggy Lee to life.
