Jazz and Strings Artistic Director Gene Bozzi says, “When I was planning this year’s Jazz & Strings programs, I felt it was time to include a jazz guitar concert and was aware of the albums that Wes had done with string arrangements by masters like Don Sebetsky, Claus Oberman and Oliver Nelson…I met Mike Stern several years ago when I was playing a jazz festival in Russia. He’s one of the top jazz guitarists on the scene today with an extremely busy touring schedule and I was thrilled that he was available to play this concert with us.” The concert’s program will include Montgomery’s “West Coast Blues” and “S.O.S.,” “Somewhere from Bernstein’s West Side Story, The Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby,” Miles Davis’ “Tune Up,” and Duke Ellington’s “Caravan,” plus original charts by Mike Stern.
