Conducted by HSO Music Director Carolyn Kuan and emceed by Hartford playwright and personality Jacques LamarrePlaying with Food 4: Food Fight! will pit chefs from m & m bistro, the Connecticut Convention Center, and Concorde’s Restaurant against three guest judges for the most exciting Playing with Food concert yet!  The special ingredient for the chefs’ creations will be music, of course – and with on-stage cooking, audience participation, and a pops program performed by the HSO, it’s the perfect recipe for a fabulous night out!

Guest judges include Author and chocolatier Nikki Woolfolk, author Giulia Melucci (I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti), and one more to be announced!

JACQUES LAMARRE is thrilled to be working with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra again having served as the organization’s box office manager for five years.  In addition, he recently hosted two Discovery concerts for the orchestra’s education programs.  Other performances include Anne Cubberly’s outdoor spectacle Nightfall (Miss Hog River), as well as appearances in Dan Blow and Cubberly’s performance art pieces Whoosh! (Windy Canyons), Drop (Clams Casino), Dirt (Crusty Clusters), and Fire (Magma Mt. Saint Helens) at The Wadsworth Atheneum.  As a playwright, Jacques’ work has been seen at TheaterWorks (I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti; Christmas on the Rocks; and the upcoming The Raging Skillet); Seven Angels in Waterbury (Spaghetti; Born Fat); Hole in the Wall (Jacques Lamarre Has Gone Too Far); Hartford Opera Theatre (The Family Plan), and many others.  He has co-written a dozen shows for drag performer Varla Jean Merman, as well as the screenplay to Varla Jean & The Mushroomheads.  As a marketing specialist, Jacques has worked for Hartford Stage, Yale Repertory Theatre/Yale School of Drama, TheaterWorks, The Mark Twain House & Museum, and BuzzEngine.
