On Angels’ Wings: Beethoven, Tchaikovsky & Beyond

Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art

Sunday Serenades Ticket Information

This concert program takes its inspiration from a selection of old master paintings paired side by side with contemporary works in the Wadsworth Atheneum. Spanning the 14th through the 20th centuries, these works resonate with one another across time and present innovative perspectives on subject matter and form, including several images of angels and Cupid on the wing. The complementary musical works include Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 5 “Spring,” Schoenfield’s Café Music, and Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence.

TRAFFIC ALERT FOR SUNDAY, MARCH 22
The Max’s O’Hartford 5K road race will be taking place on Sunday, March 22 in Downtown Hartford and several downtown streets will be closed to traffic from 10am until 2pm. If you are attending the HSO Sunday Serenades concert (“On Angels’ Wings…”) taking place at the Wadsworth Atheneum at 2pm, please enter the museum from the Avery Entrance on Atheneum Square North instead of using the Main Street entrance. The most convenient parking areas will be the Front Street North and South garages and the Connecticut Science Center garage. Please allow for extra travel time if you are attending the concert.
