Program to Feature Aerial Feats and Acrobatics Choreographed to Seasonal Favorites
Audience encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to benefit Toys for Tots
This holiday season, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra POPS! will combine acrobatics and holiday music at the Holiday Cirque Spectacular on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 3:00 and 7:30 p.m. in Mortensen Hall at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. Conducted by HSO Music Director Carolyn Kuan, the concert will include such favorites as Winter Wonderland, Ave Maria, selections from The Nutcracker, Sleigh Ride, selections from Frozen, and more, while Cirque de la Symphonie surrounds the stage with awe-inspiring aerialists, mind-boggling contortionists, and breathtaking juggling acts. Of course, our holiday program wouldn’t be the same without an audience sing-along and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus!
The performers of Cirque de la Symphonie are some of the most accomplished veterans of exceptional cirque programs from across the globe. They include world record holders, gold-medal winners of international competitions, Olympians and some of the most original talent ever seen, including Alexander Streltsov, Christine Van Loo, Vladimir Tsarkov, Elena Tsarkova, and Vitalii Buza.
The Hartford Symphony Orchestra is teaming up with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program for a toy drive. Please consider bringing a new, unwrapped toy to drop off in Toys for Toys boxes located The Bushnell lobbies.
