Jay Lichtmann has been the a member of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra since the fall of 1982. He served the first 25 years of his tenure with the HSO in the Principal trumpet chair but, in the time honored orchestral tradition of planned obsolescence, he has stepped back to the 2nd/Assistant Principal spot.
As an adjunct professor at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School, Jay expends a tremendous amount of energy trying to get his students (or anyone else, for that matter) to listen to him.
Jay has many interests that, woefully, keep his focus away from the trumpet. He hasgone back to school, studying graphic design, and this has taken up much of his precious time as of late.
Jay lives in Avon with his devoted, long-suffering wife Susan and Lumpy – his pain in the ass French bulldog.
If you have nothing better to do, like taking out the garbage or cleaning the grout in your bathroom, you might take a gander at Jay’s website: uhaweb.hartford.edu/lichtmann
